Senate Chairman from Balochistan.......A better turnout for Pakistan..

Senate, as is the upper house of Pakistani Parliament has an important role in legislation. In a past few weeks, first Senate elections and the nomination of chairman and deputy chairman was the hot topic for debate in media and other platforms.Almost all the political parties were in a struggle of bringing their own chairman.PML-N with majority seats and its political allies were favorite while the opposition was also in the struggle to upset.Senate election's electoral process is based on Indirect single transferable vote system, thus speculations and gossips of horsetrading and vote trading were all around.Well, the good thing in all this mess was that for the first time a person from Balochistan stood up for the chairmanship and he too had a support of the opposition.Being a neutral analyst, Imran Khan's decision to give all his 11 seats to Balochistan has strengthened the stance.PPP always has a strong share in Senate and the party also was in a fever of bringing its own candidate for chairmen but due to its rivalry with PMLN and to save its political stance was forced to support the cause although in this bargain they are able to bring their deputy chairmen.Well in this whole scenario, Ruling party and its allies were sitting ducks even with the majority because first their all nominations were declared as an independent candidate and then they nominated their candidate at the last time thus creating a wave of discontentment among its allies and its party too.And after the results of yesterday polling, this belief has strengthened that allies and some of the party's own people are not happy because the difference of votes was quite unexpected.People were expecting that "Sanjrani" may be won with 2 to 3 votes but the difference of 10 to 12 votes suggests an alarming situation for the ruling party. However, as I suggest this election is a sigh of relief for Balochi's and this may reduce their prospects of being neglected etc while ruling party is in hot waters because these prospectives don't suggest something good for them in near future.
