Asia Cup 2022 is finally over and it was the tournament of my life. Asian teams have been pretty dominant always in world cricket and this competition has always been the highlight of the cricket world. World best teams from the same continent are competing for being the champions of Asia and this time we have seen some amazing talent and amazing teams.
Today's final was between Pakistan and Srilanka, Pakistan being the favorites obviously due to their strong bowling lineup and deep inconsistent, and unpredictable batting, and Srilanka being young, competitive, and underdogs of the tournament. After their 1st loss to Afg, they came very strong wiping anything that comes in their sides. Captain Sanaka has led this young, competitive, ambitious, and resilient side to glory and this trophy is a lot for all Srilankan supporters in these difficult times
Pakistan I think has done a few things wrong. No doubt they played well in this tournament but few short a few comings needed to be addressed before the coming World Cup. Pakistan batting relies too much on the Top 3 Batsmen and Baber and Fakher were very ordinary in this tournament. Father in my opinion is a powerplay player who really cruises the innings in the first six overs when mostly fielders are inside the circles. And baber and Rizwan were really slow in opening overs. Yes, wickets are important but once you play 1st six to seven overs with an average of 5, pressure comes in the middle order. Moreover, Middle Order has been real trouble for Pakistani sides. Iftikhar, Khusdil & Asif Ali were not able to steer the innings in a winning cause.
Taking Risks is always important. Pakistani management was very passive in their approach. they were very much hesitant to make changes in Playing XI. despite the bad performance of the middle order, Haider Ali was not given a chance and the Pakistani team in this whole tournament was banking on any one player to stand up for the winning cause which unfortunately didn't happened in the Final.
Plenty of takeaways for both Teams and Surely the Srilankan Team was so deserving. They did everything right to win. their resilience, patience, passion, and hard work is remarkable and lesson for so many.
