Pakistan...an Amazing Country...Part 02...The Culture





 Pakistan is country with immense cultural diversity which makes it prominent among the whole           world.From Gilgit Baltistan till Gawadar, it has a sweet mixture of traditions, languages, ethnic and    religious values, festivals, foods, sports and many more.And these diversities are a greater source of   National Unity.The society and culture comprise of numerous ethnic groups, Punjabis, Pothwari and Kashmiris in east, Hazaras, and Pushtuns in the west, Baltis, Dards, Shinaki in north and Muhajirs and Makranis in South.Despite the common religion as the majority of Pakistanis are Muslims, these all groups have their own code of conduct, weddings, fairs, and festivals even own code of conduct.

    Followings are the few prominent expects of Pakistani Culture:

Muslim Festivals:

Pakistan is a Muslim majority country and obviously, the most important festivals celebrated here are Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid ul Adha.First Eid is celebrated on First of Shawal just after the end of Ramadan while Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on 10 of the Islamic month of Zilhaj.Muslims celebrate both Eid's with Zeal and Zest.Families visit each other, sweets are distributed among the relatives and on Eid-ul-Adha, Muslims slaughter animals to commemorate the occasion When Prophet Abraham (A.S) was ready to sacrifice of his son Ismail(A.S). 


Navroz Festival in Gilgit Baltistan:

Gilgit Baltistan, the land of beauty and hospitality, celebrates a range of colorful, cultural and seasonal festivals and Navroz festival is one of them.This festival is a traditional Persian festival celebrated on 21 March, marking the beginning of Persian new year.This festival is celebrated in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and North of Gilgit Baltistan.Celebrations start early morning.People wear new clothes, visit each other and wish each other's happiness and prosperity.FreeStyle Polo is also played in few regions while Mushairas and other literary activities are also held to celebrate Navroz Festival.


Shandur Polo Festival:

Shandur Polo Festival is one of the biggest festivals of Pakistan.Festival is held in the month of July every year on Shandur top in Chitral in world highest polo ground.The polo match is played between teams of Chitral and Gilgit Baltistan.Hundreds of people every year attend this festival and get amused with the mixture of sport and beautiful sights.


Mehsud Attan:

This is unique Dance form using rifles by Mehsud tribes of Pushtun in South Waziristan.Originally it was performed in times of war but now it has become a part of the culture.Dancers carry guns in one hand and with the beat of the drum, they move forward in a circle.After taking two and a half steps dancer cocks the gun.All the dancers do this in a synchronized manner and by taking few steps they fire in the air.


Pusthun cuisines:

Pashtuns Cuisines are comprised of Afghan and Pakistani dishes and are largely based on cereals like wheat, maize, rice and a set of meat dishes including lamb, beef, chicken, and fish. Kabli Pulao is also one of the most delicious dishes associated with Pathans while Pekhteh(beef/mutton ribs),seekh- kababs, Chopan kebabs and various other delicious dishes are also a part of the cuisine.


Punjabi weddings:


Well, no one celebrates their weddings as Punjabis do and Punjabi weddings are a reflection of Punjabi culture with ritual, song, dance food and their wonderful dresses.Rokka, Magni, Dholki, Mehdi Mayian, Sehra Bandi, Joota chupai, Doli and many more.These all are the traditions that reflect the beauty of the Punjabi culture.


Sindhi Festivals:


One of the first civilization of Human history, Sindhi people have a large collection of festivals.The most important of all is Cheeti Chand.This festival was celebrated by Hindu community to celebrate the birth of water God (Varun Devta) also known as Jhooly laal."Holi" is also a famous festival celebrated by Hindu Community.This is also known as Festival of color as people throw different colors on each other during the festival.Sindh Government had also organized Sindh Cultural Festival to commemorate and celebrate the immense cultural history of Sindhi people in 2014.


Balochi Culture:


Balochis are also known for their tribes and traditions.An important tradition among them is Tradition of Storytelling.Poets and storytellers are highly respected among Balochis.This tradition is called as "Haal" which means the exchange of information and current.According to them, a traveler a duty-bound to provide the news to whom he met on his way.Sibi Festivals is also a festival full of Baloch music, food traditional dance etc.Buzkashi is a festival that portrays the bravery of Baloch people.



Above mentioned festivals are just the example of diversity and beauty of Pakistani culture and you can't explain in such a short discussion but one thing you can explain and that is sincerity of the people to their country and their tradition and these are the things that make is prominent among the nations.
