Anatol Lieven in his book "Pakistan a hard country" states that although Pakistan had faced both democratic rulers and dictators, but the problem is dictators tried to behave democratically and democratic rulers pretended to be dictators, thus ultimately both resulted in failure. And his analysis seems pretty much adequate and correct as after 70 years despite so much industrial development, or roads and even after becoming an atomic power, the living standard of the common man hasn't improved much. I've heard stories from my elders that how they use to live and how inflation has reached new heights."We used to buy 40 kg of wheat in few rupees and same in the case with other groceries" my grandfather told me as I asked him about their time.Same is the case with health facilities.Women are giving birth to their children in rickshaws, doctors, nurses are on strike, clean drinking water is not available even in bigger cities like Karachi and so much more. But in this all mess, some good things are also on their way.Judiciary has appeared to be a savior for the common people and the role they are playing for the past few months is absolutely amazing. From the issues of sanitation and clean drinking water to the opening of mega corruption cases against the top political elite, they are doing everything.NAB has also started to follow the footsteps of the judiciary and for the first time, people are seeing some positive developments.Army and security forces are already performing well.So the good news is institutions are building up and when institutes work Nation's prosper. It may take some time but surely we are heading towards a better future.
